Mr. Tetsuro Kai, a Japanese housing developer, was invited by Taiwan Building Technology Center (TBTC) for International Workshop & Expo of the Subtropical Green Buildings and Environment Integrated Housing Technology Application on June 24, 2008. Research, development and application on green buildings and materials in Taiwan related issues were discussed and helpful to carbon reduction, the hottest topic worldwide currently.

By using plants, water and wind, everyone could cool the temperature down and make the environment different. Interactively, Mr. Kai proved this theory by a sprayer, lighting, and bamboo curtain and everyone could be able to see the differences via an infrared camera and to sense in person.

"The distance and arrangement between plants, and the height between buildings in resident areas are all about green buildings and environment integrated housing technology application. It is a systematical planting to energy saving. The green buildings in Taiwan are more incline to research and develop green materials, such as heat insulation solar glass, and other energy-saving materials to carbon reduction, and also hope to utilize the design of which Mr. Kai has promoted to build environmental-friendly and energy-saving buildings in Taiwan," said Prof. Chin-Huai Young, the research group member of Green Building Materials Center, one of the six sub centers of TBTC.
