Higher Education Sprout Project
The Featured Areas Research Center Program within the framework of the 5-year Higher Education Sprout Project has been launched by the Ministry of Education in Taiwan in 2018 aiming to develop features of university, to strengthen research capability, to cultivate young scientists, to raise international reputation, to solve social issues and to increase competitiveness of industry.
Based on the funding support from Ministry of Education, TBTC will continue to focus on research of energy efficient building. The main reason is that carbon emissions resulted from the building sector is one of key influential factors of sustainable environment. Reductions in building-related carbon emissions highly related to the Government’s priority policy of circular economy and green energy can be achieved in several different ways: by increasing the amount of electricity generated from low- and zero-carbon technologies, by retrofitting existing buildings to reduce energy consumption and improve energy efficiency, and by constructing new buildings to be low- or zero-energy buildings. In addition, construction sector could be transformed by adopting ICT technologies into buildings.
