A 3-day program of intensive discussions on the emerging and innovative developments for infrastructure systems is proposed to be held at the Taiwan Tech on January 9-11, 2013. The emphasis will be on cross-strait activities in Taiwan and Mainland China; however, innovative or emerging activities in several Pacific-Rim countries will be invited to participate.
The format of the Workshop will concentrate on intensive discussions of emerging topics that are related and of significance to the developments of major or critical infrastructure systems. These discussions will be led by designated experts on the respective topics and preparation of summary reports to be included in the publications of the Workshop. In civil engineering, innovations can be defined as new and/or novel approaches to solve engineering problems, including developing bases for planning, design, construction and operation of infrastructure systems.
