Building Life-Cycle Performance Evaluations and Decision Support Systems

 A building system consists of many sub-systems having both similar and dissimilar attributes. Such sub-systems include those for structure, construction, facilities and communications. Not only must the relationships among these sub-systems be considered, but also the fact that the uncertainties within a system change with the passage of time means that the influence of these changes on reliability, risk, and cost within the building system cannot be overlooked. Therefore, the focus of this research project is on developing an efficient method for computing the time-dependent reliability, risk and cost within a building system and then creating a support system for multiple-objective decision making.
