Riga Technical University (RTU), founded in 1862, is Latvia’s oldest and largest university of technology and an NTUST partner university since 2012. The RTU-NTUST cooperation started with a visit of former president Chen Shi-Shuenn to Latvia in 2012, where he signed an MOU that established the partnership between the two institutions.
Now, six years later, senior members of the management RTU came to Taiwan to discuss possibilities of further broadening the cooperation. On November 6, 2018 a delegation, led by RTU rector Prof Leonīds Ribickis, visited Taiwan Tech where they were received by President Liao Ching-jong, Dean of International Affairs Wang Meng-jih, and the Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Leu Jenq-Shiou.
Other members of the RTU delegation were Vice Rector Igors Tipans, Oskars Krievs, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, and Ms. Anna Sedova, Officer in the International Office.
As most of TaiwanTech’s international guests, the RTU delegated expressed interest to visit the Industry 4.0 Implementation Centre which was introducedby Prof Liang Shu-hao with former NTUST president Chen Shi-Shuenn joining the tour.
